With Virtual Router Plus, you can wirelessly share any Internet connection with any WiFi enabled device. To get started with VirtualRouter Plus, simply click on the app to run it and choose a name and password for the network that you are going to create. Virtual Router Plus is a small, open source app for computers that run Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. If your router is not Wi-Fi enabled, then VirtualRouter Plus maybe the way forward, especially if you run Windows 8. The app is very easy to use and required no installation. The only issue we found was with stability.
Skype Voice Changer
Skype Voice Changer is a simple app that is able to modify your voice for conversions on Skype. The features of Skype Voice Changer are somewhat limited, but it does provides the correct number of options to change how you sound when chatting online with Skype VoIP. When Skype Voice Changer runs for the first time, it will attempt to detect and connect to Skype. Once Skype has started, you will need to perform a one-time authorisation to allow Skype Voice Changer to work with it. Within Skype you’ll also need to authorise Skype Voice Changer by selecting ‘Authorise’. As soon as you are successfully authorised, the Status screen will then show ‘Waiting for Call’ and the Effects tab will be automatically selected. Now you can start applying effects to your voice. In the ‘Effects’ tab, you are able to configure an ’Effects Chain’ of one or more different effects, which will modify your voice while a call is in progress (the field is empty by default). By clicking on the ‘Add Effect’ button it will allow you to choose an effect to add. Once you have selected an effect,you can edit and adjust the effect parameters in real-time. Your voice will be modified using any effects you have selected. It is worth noting that you will not hear the effects yourself. To test them out, you need to make a call to the ‘Skype Echo Service’. This will play back what you have spoken into the microphone. Overall, Skype Voice Changer does exactly what is says on the tin. It has a few options, however, it provides a perfect way to mask your true voice during Skype calls, both over video and voice, in real-time.
winPenPack Suite
winPenPack is an open source software environment comprised of several portable apps* grouped into suites. With winPenPack, any USB flash drive ceases to be a simple data storage device and becomes a self-contained environment, within which apps and files are integrated together. Portable apps included in the winPenPack suite do not require any installation and do not leave their files or settings on the host computer. They can be easily transferred to another computer via any external device, such as a removable hard disk drive or a USB flash drive. In order to get started with winPenPack, all you have to do is connect a USB flash drive to any free USB port on your host PC, and you will have your collection of pre-configured and ready-to-use programs instantly available, grouped in categories and executable through a user-friendly menu interface that is similar to the Start Menu. Once running, it will be exactly as if you are working on your own PC, with web browsers, e-mail clients, image and drawing editors, chat clients, multimedia tools, PC maintenance and security tools, school and development tools, etc. All these features make winPenPack extremely useful in any situation. *Portable apps are apps that are modified to be executed directly from a USB flash drive, without prior installation.
CryptBox
CryptBox is a very useful security utility that creates secure safes, which are handled like normal drives and which you are able to store your data in, in an encrypted, secure environment that can only be accessed by you. CryptBox can encrypt your data with the AES-256 algorithm, which is the standard for secure banking and online monetary transactions. Using CryptBox is easy. The app provides a few nice walk through wizards for the main tasks, which help you step by step to your own safe. CryptBox also has a number of useful tools, for example you can transform existing folders and convert them into safe folders. A great feature of CryptBox is that it accepts different types of passwords for your safe. You can almost anything to secure you data in your safes. For example, you could use a USB device, an alphanumeric password or a series of images to open your safes. CryptBox also allows you to create a TravelSafe, which can be exported to an USB-Stick or on a CD. If you are on the road, e.g. for visiting friends, surfing in an InternetCafe or at working at another PC, you still have full access to your data, because the TravelSafe can be started directly from a USB stick. Overall, CryptBox is a simple, yet secure method of ensuring your data remain under lock and key. With various options to create passwords and the ability to store safes on usb drives and optical media, you can see why CryptBox is something that should check out.
